Bethel Baptist Church History

Bethel Baptist Church was founded and met initially in the home of Bob and Rusty Fleming on the first Sunday in October 1994. There were 9 people at the first meeting; Mike Parr, pastor and wife, Carole, Bob & Rusty Fleming, Doug Cadwell, Elaine Carnes, Clayton Carnes, and Ron and Yvonne Burchett. At the close of the services, the first business meeting was held and officers were chosen.
The desire of those first members was to establish a fundamental Baptist church with Biblical teaching and preaching where the lost could find salvation, where the hurting could find comfort and where saints of God could fellowship together.
Within two weeks of the first meeting, regular services were being held in a single suite in the Mid-South Center in Pinehurst. The "100-year flood" that same month dampened the few items that had been accumulated for worship purposes, but not the spirits of the members.
In January 1995 the church ordained Bro. Mike and in the spring began to provide a regular love offering. Every time the church increased their giving to the pastor, God blessed and provided for every need. Bethel members approved the church's Constitution and by-laws in June and in August a Building Fund was established.
In 1996 the members voted to begin the first missionary outreach with regular support for the Bearing Precious Seed ministry. The electronic piano was purchased and the worship area was remodeled to include two suites.
Events of 1997 included incorporation (Bethel Baptist Church of Pinehurst,) establishing the Sunday School, support for missionaries to Uruguay and the making of a recording with Mike and Carole Parr singing. With continued growth in the area, the need to leave the strip center and establish a more permanent worship center became a higher priority.
The search for land appropriate for building a permanent worship center continued until October when the Lord led the church to purchase 6.3 acres at the corner of Wright and Coe Roads next to the Pinehurst post office.
Pastor Mike and Carole Parr have both been called home to be forevermore with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, but Bethel Baptist Church continues to serve the Lord Jesus and the community of Pinehurst, TX.
We have been at out present location for almost 17 years now and our facilities and land are completely debt free, thanks to the Lord blessing our congregation and our church.
After the loss of our founding Pastor and wife to cancer, we were blessed to have Bro. Charles Goodson and his wife Phyllis serve as interim pastor for several months until health forced his retirement.
The Lord continues to look after His work and led Bro. Gary Snyder and his wife Sheila to our doors. Bro. Gary was voted in as Pastor in our April, 2014 business meeting and we are looking towards the future with the hope and promise of Jesus Christ that His work will continue and His Word will not return void.

Present

Bethel Baptist Church is a "dependent" Baptist Church, dependent wholly on God and not affiliated with any denomination. We unashamibly teach and preach from the King James Bible. Sunday Bible Study is held every Sunday morning at 9:30 and the worship service is at 10:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Wednesday evening Bible study and prayer service begins at 7:00 p.m.
Believers are accepted for membership in the church in three-ways:
* By profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and baptism by immersion.
* By letter from a church of like faith.
* By statement of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Future
The Pinehurst and surrounding areas are growing rapidly. There are plans for 3000 homes to be built between Pinehurst and Decker Prairie; facilities to fulfill the commission of the church and meet the needs of the family are essential. Information from numerous sources indicate that a church grows by 40% in the first few months after such a move.
